Brunch at Chapter One in Mystic, Connecticut

There is something undeniably charming about a casual mid morning stroll through Olde Mistick Village. My wife and I spent the morning wandering through its quaint pathways, unique shops, and historic surroundings while enjoying the relaxed pace of the day.

As the morning turned into brunch time, our appetites led us into downtown Mystic, where we decided to revisit one of our favorite local restaurants, Chapter One Food and Drink.

A Welcoming Brunch Destination in Downtown Mystic

Chapter One has always held a special place in our hearts. It offers a welcoming atmosphere combined with the culinary creativity needed to turn an ordinary meal into a memorable occasion.

Once we settled into our seats, the brunch menu immediately caught our attention. It featured a wide selection of tempting dishes, creative appetizers, comforting entrées, and flavorful brunch favorites.

Tempting Appetizers at Chapter One

One appetizer that immediately stood out was the Devils on Horseback. This dish features Medjool dates filled with Gorgonzola cheese, wrapped in smoked bacon, and finished with a balsamic reduction.

The combination of sweet dates, smoky bacon, rich cheese, and tangy balsamic sounded incredible.

We also noticed a hot plate of chicken wings being delivered to a nearby table. The wings are available with several sauce options, including Buffalo and Mango Habanero. They looked crispy, flavorful, and extremely tempting.

Although the appetizers were difficult to resist, we had plans for an early family dinner later in the day. We decided to move directly to our entrées.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap with French Fries

The wrap included fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, bacon, Swiss cheese, and ranch dressing, all wrapped together and served with golden French fries.

The chicken was cooked perfectly. It remained juicy inside while having a light crispness on the outside. The combination of chicken, bacon, cheese, vegetables, and ranch created a comforting and satisfying meal.

The ranch dressing was creamy and well seasoned. It added richness without overpowering the other ingredients. The Swiss cheese provided another layer of flavor, while the lettuce and tomato added freshness.

A crisp dill pickle completed the plate and provided a refreshing contrast to the richness of the wrap.

Two Eggs My Way with Bacon and Sausage

I selected the Two Eggs My Way breakfast with eggs cooked over medium.

The eggs had tender whites and firm yolks, exactly how I wanted them that morning. They paired perfectly with the smoky hardwood bacon and savory sausage links.

The sausages had noticeable hints of sage and a slight sweetness. Their lightly crisp exterior added texture and made every bite flavorful.

The meal also included golden breakfast potatoes seasoned with onion and paprika. They were crisp around the edges, warm in the center, and added a comforting element to the plate.

Instead of traditional toast, I selected an English muffin. Its slightly tangy flavor and soft texture made it perfect for soaking up the butter and egg.

Every component appeared to receive careful attention, from the perfectly cooked chicken and creamy ranch dressing to the smoky bacon, savory sausage, and crisp breakfast potatoes.

These thoughtful details elevate dining beyond simply eating a meal. They create an experience worth remembering.

Our brunch was satisfying, flavorful, and relaxing. It reminded us why Chapter One remains one of our favorite restaurants in Mystic.
